A clean-looking cut is only part of the job. The work also needs to protect the people in the home, nearby trades, cabinetry, flooring and the slab itself. When stone is cut incorrectly, the damage can be immediate: airborne silica dust, chipped edges, heat cracks, water damage or a cut-out that is a few millimetres out of position.
Why dry cutting stone is a serious risk
Engineered stone, granite, porcelain and many natural stone products can contain crystalline silica. Cutting, grinding or drilling these materials dry can release fine respirable silica dust.
